Brass Door Knockers

While early door knockers were crafted mostly from hand beaten iron, the majority of more recent examples are made from brass. Brass door knockers have remained the most favoured of door knockers since the 17th century when their widespread use began. Although architectural styles meant that brass door knobs and knockers were out of favour come the mid 19th century they have been facing a renaissance in recent years, along with the recent use of chrome door knockers.

Chrome door knockers are a much more modern take on the door knocker theme. A lighter and more manageable material, chrome door knockers have the advantage of price when compared to brass door knockers. They also have a more modern look and feel to them making chrome door knockers a popular choice with newer houses across the country, as aposed to the traditional look of black iron door knockers.
